African Teams - Meet the
Challenge of Competing Against and Sharing Your Soccer Traditions
With Soccer Teams From the Western
HemisphereThe Copa HonduAfric is a Cross Cultural International Youth Soccer Tournament
Are You Up To Playing Against the Multicultural Teams of the Western Hemisphere? Only One Way To Find Out! And That's By Entering And Winning The Copa HonduAfric Trophy.
Why play soccer across continental boundaries? Why do so many soccer teams want to travel thousands of miles to compete in other countries? Isn't it because soccer is a worldwide community. The rules are the same everywhere. What is different is the style of play.
To play at the international level means knowing how to compete against your fellow soccer players from other soccer traditions. What is the best soccer tradition in the world? What makes a winning team? Many African teams are made up of players from the same ethnic group, often the same tribe. That means their style of play is the same. Maybe your team has been very successful play in your country because you have only had to compete with players from your own culture. But if you want to move to the international scenes you are going to have to get a taste of competition against other soccer cultures and other soccer styles.
We believe the best soccer style is made up of all the soccer traditions in the world. African teams need to travel outside the continent to experience other playing styles. In the Western Hemisphere we are made up of so many different races and groups that our soccer youth experience just about any style that exists. What has emerged is called "Run and Gun".
Here in the Western Hemisphere we call our teams made up of many groups a hybrid team. Western Hemisphere teams are built with hybrid vigor. Hybrid vigor is the result of the mixing of races. That's why the Brazilians are so good. They combine African blood, Indian Blood with European blood. We think the hybrid vigor that results makes a better soccer team.
Your team can tap into this hybrid vigor by coming to play against our teams. Learn from these different styles. Share your style with them. Create friendships that will last a lifetime. And come with the plan to Win.
What's the best way to create a winning soccer team? Come to the Copa HonduAfric and find out.

Bring Your AfroHeritage¬Team To the beautiful pine covered mountains of Honduras to La Esperanza, Honduras. Find out if your team can play well in the mountains. Remember the Brazilians lost an important game to Mexico because the game was played in the mountain city of Mexico City. If your team or players have international ambitions they need experience playing at high altitudes.. Play in this Copa HonduAfric Youth Soccer Tournament.
The Copa HonduAfric tournament (run under the auspices of the FENAFUTH) is in its first year. The tournament will have an international flavor and, of course, a high caliber of soccer competition. The tournament is for boys from ages 11-19. The aim of this event is to promote fun, friendship, and of course soccer.
IntibucaThink your players are in shape? Imagine walking 10 miles to town up and down 1000 or 2000 feet every day. Imagine running up hills like that. Imagine playing soccer with legs like that. Think your players are in condition? Take a look at these legs.
When the Abuja Unity Boys team from the capital of Nigeria came to Intibuca to play soccer, they didn't bother practicing. "These players are so small, we'll run all over them." Imagine their surprise when they literally bounced off the legs and bodies of these "little Lenca Indians". "Their bodies are like iron", they complained.
Come to the Copa HonduAfric and get a chance to play against these "little Lenca Indians". Located in La Esperanza, the mountain capital of the departmento of Intibuca, in Western Honduras, this program provides you the opportunity to build your 'futbol' skills in one of the world's great soccer countries. For one week, you'll have the option not only of playing in the tournament but can participate in a special SoccerNSpanish camp. You can spend each afternoon or morning as a member of an soccer club, training alongside Honduran boys and girls in your age group and receiving instruction from excellent coaches.
The "Copa HonduAfric" an International Youth Soccer Tournament will take place from October 21-29, 2006 in La Esperanza, Honduras. La Esperanza is the training center of mountain soccer where soccer players develop stamina, fantastic legs and strength. One week of training in these mountains will start your players on a lifetime of conditioning and development that will stand you in good stead in the world soccer arena. The first game will be played on Saturday, October 21, 2006..
There will be cultural exhibits of Lenca Indian crafts including pottery, handicrafts, pine straw baskets. In addition there will be Folkloric dancing and Mountain Indian Ranchero music.
Tournament participants get the opportunity to learn from two coaches, Chris Watkins and Hector Meza.
Chris WatkinsThe conditioning coach will be Chris Watkins, an AfroHeritage youth who serves as goalkeeper coach as well. Chris is only 16 years old, an American youth who is living in Honduras with his grandmother, Dr. Carol Cross. Dr. Carol Cross is the founder and creator of the RED de AfroHeritage Footballers, president of ISAI and developer of the LigaAmericas Soccer Masters Academy. Chris has been playing soccer on teams since he was five years old. He is a certified referee as well. Chris is not a player now because of a head injury but has developed into a very successful coach, specializing in the training of goalkeepers and conditioning athletes. Chris will be available for one on one training during the week of the tournament. He will also participate in the Pretournament Coaching Clinics. |
Hector MezaHector is an Honduran born in La Esperanza. Hector is an Indian from one of the indigenous groups in Honduras. He is a trained coach with a coaching license. He is also secretary of the Liga Menor, the league of youth players in the State of Intibuca. In addition he also serves with the Liga Mayor and owns four youth teams of his own. He is very active in developing football in Intibuca and has as his goal coaching a team from the professional Liga Nacional de Honduras. A second desire is to coach the National Team of women in Honduras. Hector is one of the coaching directors of the LigaAmericas Soccer Masters Academy. Hector will be available for individual coaching and hill running during the week of the tournament. |

The "Copa HonduAfric" an International Youth Soccer Tournament will take place from October 20-29, 2006 in La Esperanza, Intibuca, Honduras. La Esperanza is the mile high capital of the state of Intibuca.. The first game will be played on Saturday, October 21, 2006.
This competition is being organized by the International Sports Adventure Institute and the LigaAmericás Fútbol World Soccer Masters Academy. It will demonstrate to the teams invited what a small country (less than 7 million people) can do in a culture dedicated to soccer. Honduras has close to a hundred international players who are now earning a living playing in Europe and Latin America.
This tournament will bring together youth soccer athletes of AfroHeritage origin with the multiHeritage youth of Honduras . We will bring together African youth from the continent to play in a friendly tournament with Honduran teams, many including AfroHeritage youth, Native American youth and all of the multiheritage Honduran youth soccer players.
RED de AfroHeritage Footballers There are many potentially world class AfroHeritage football players in Africa, the Caribbean Islands and Latin America. Through this tournament, we hope to locate these great players and enable them to be seen by universities in the USA as well as professional teams in Europe.
AfroHeritage players who feel they are capable of playing at a higher level are invited to become members of the RED de AfroHeritage Footballers. As a member, ISAI will assist you in preparing a video, getting that video seen and put up a website for you which we will then market to teams in Europe and universities in the USA.
Footballers, coaches and teams will be able to communicate directly with Dr. Carol Cross, founder of the RED de AfroHeritage Footballers and developer of the Copa HonduAfric. Through ISAI and the International Institute of Soccer Tourism, she offers AfroHeritage footballers support, guidance and consultancy for player marketing, team marketing and coach promotion. These Athlete Packages are available through Dr. Cross:
| College Bound Player Package | |
| Beginning Professional Package | |
| Experienced Professional Package | |
| Older Player Package | |
| Amateur Adult Player Package | |
| Team Promotion Package | |
| Coaches Promotion Package |
We invite any AfroHeritage players to join this RED if they feel they have potential to play at a higher Level. You are not required to become a member of the RED, but there will be special meetings during the tournament for RED members on how to develop a successful football career, how to market yourself. There will be a meeting on starting a soccer camp or academy and how to be a successful football leader. We will also have a special practice session for RED members with our own coaches. In addition, we invite coaches and clubs to become members of the RED.

The final game will be played on Saturday morning, October 29, 2006 with the awards and awards banquet Saturday Night.
A number of other social activities will be on offered before and/or after games, so there will be no "dull" moments during the week.
The Finals will be played at the La Esperanza City Stadium in La Esperanza, Honduras.
No one can deny the effect of Soccer in Honduran culture. Honduras and Hondurans love the game above all else. Children play soccer with balled up socks in the streets. And at one time, Honduran national teams played so well in in international tournaments, they were placed 27th in World soccer nations, above nations with far higher populations and more resources. Great coaches, great players that no one deny. Honduras soccer and Honduran soccer players have put Honduras on the map.
In recent years, Honduras has not been able to reach its highest potential, due to the loss of resources after Hurricane Mitch destroyed 40% of the Honduran economy. Gone is the Honduran National women's soccer team. And cross country play for Honduran youth is often not available. But it is rebuilding its youth programs and developing new women's programs.
That's because Honduras is such a soccer nation, with just about every child playing, Honduras is on the verge of returning to its former glory. We at ISAI are determined to support the grassroots programs being developed by FENAFUTH in rural communities to discover new soccer talent.
Each team is guaranteed four games. These games will consist of round robin play and/or playoff games following the round robin . The exact format for each division depends upon the number of teams in the division. Any division that has more than eight teams will have a consolation playoff as well as a championship playoff, following round robin play.
Fair play is an important aspect of the tournament. Each year the girls and boys teams that best exemplify good sportsmanship and fair play are awarded the Carol Cross Fair Play Award. This trophy is named after Dr. Carol Cross, founder of the Copa HonduAfric Tournament.
All players must be covered by medical insurance, and details of such insurance must be provided at the time of team registration. No player will be allowed on a team's roster without having provided such information.
All players must have a player card, with photo, from their governing body. This card must be shown to the tournament committee at the time of team registration. In addition, each must present a RED de AfroHeritage Footballer Participation Card.
